The four days
Chhath Puja 2026 runs from Nahay Khay on 13 November and Kharna on 14 November to Sandhya Arghya on Sunday 15 November, the day of Surya Shashthi, and Usha Arghya at sunrise on Monday 16 November. The date of Surya Shashthi is the one in the Government of India’s list of restricted holidays for 2026.
Why the time depends on the city
The arghya is offered to the setting and the rising sun, so its time is the local sunset and sunrise. India has a single time zone, so the sun sets earlier on the clock in Bihar than in Delhi or Mumbai. The times here assume a level horizon; at a river ghat the sun can disappear a minute or two earlier behind trees or buildings.
